How fresh are your beans?

On-demand ordering: We only roast your beans when you order your beans, guaranteeing you only get the freshest beans. We do not roast bulk beans in advance and store them until they are ordered like supermarket beans and some roasting companies.

Delivery: when and cost?

We will roast and dispatch your beans within 24 hours of you ordering, and delivery is FREE to all states and territories in Australia

What is the best way to store my coffee beans?

Store your beans in an airtight container, away from heat, light, and moisture. A cool, dark pantry is ideal. Do not refrigerate your coffee, as this exposes it to moisture and unwanted odours.

We deliver to all states and territories in Australia. We are an online roasting business, so pick-up is not available.

Can I pick up my order?

Sorry, no, as we are an online coffee bean roasting business, and we are not set up for pick-up orders.

What is the difference between Arabica and Robusta beans

Arabica and Robusta are the two most popular coffee species, distinguished by their flavour, caffeine content, and growing conditions. Arabica is known for a smooth, sweet flavour with bright acidity and lower caffeine, while Robusta has a bolder, more bitter taste with nearly double the caffeine. Robusta plants are harder and easier to grow in hot, low-altitude climates, and they are often used for espresso and instant coffee blends, whereas Arabica requires higher altitudes and is preferred for its complex flavour.

How long do the beans stay fresh?

For peak flavour, we recommend consuming your coffee within 4-6 weeks of the roast date. Store your beans in an airtight container, or the resealable bag your beans came in. Store the bag or container in a cool and dark place (do not refrigerate).  Once the bag is opened, try to use the beans within one to two weeks. However, if you're lucky enough to own a Cryovac machine (vacuum sealer), you can divide your order into, say, 250 g lots and vacuum seal them; this will allow you to freeze them until you need them, thereby extending your still-fresh time to months, not weeks. Once defrosted, you must not refreeze.

How do I choose the right grind size?

Grind size depends entirely on your brewing method! Use a fine grind for espresso, a medium grind for drip/pour-over, and a coarse grind for French Press and Cold Brew. If you order pre-ground, just tell us your brewing method! Also click on download button on the bottom of this page for more detailed information regarding dialling in new beans.

What is the difference between a Light, Medium, and Dark roast?

Light roasts preserve more of the coffee's original, unique flavor notes (fruity, floral, acidic). Medium roasts are balanced, with a fuller body and sweetness. Dark roasts have a rich, heavy body with flavors dominated by the roasting process (chocolate, caramel, smokiness).

How long should I let my coffee "rest" after the roast date?

We recommend letting your beans rest for 5 to 7 days after the roast date before brewing, especially for espresso. This "degassing" period allows carbon dioxide to escape, resulting in a more balanced and delicious cup. The darker the beans, the quicker they're ready to brew; lighter roasts take longer to develop the finished flavour.
